The Estate of Fountains Abbey & Studley Royal offers you the opportunity
to discover:
- a wealth of history and heritage
- magnificent buildings
- sweeping landscapes
Plan your visit and get as much as possible from your trip with our interactive
map.
All year round there are
activities for families, walks and guided tours, and special evening events, including
open air theatre. In the autumn the Abbey is floodlit on Saturday evenings, with
the sounds of choirs singing in the Cellarium and (recorded) Gregorian chant.
It's a wonderful place to come for a family day out in Yorkshire.
The estate is particularly well suited for
visitors with disabilities and many facilities are available including free hire of batricars and wheelchairs.
There are also:
- two shops
- two restaurants
- refreshment kiosks
- baby-changing facilities
- excellent parking for cars and coaches
If you wish to support the estate in an active way, there are many opportunities
to be a
volunteer, for example be a tour guide, a warden or an events volunteer.
In addition, there are several schemes to enable you to make a donation directly
to the continuing works of restoration and landscape conservation - a personal
investment of value in the present and recorded for posterity.
Currently there is a £4 million backlog of work on Fountains Hall, the Water
Garden and the Seven Bridges Valley, and other areas of the Estate.
The property maintains a dynamic working relationship with English Heritage.
Fountains Abbey & Studley Royal offers businesses numerous methods of supporting
our work, from sponsorship and corporate entertaining to work secondments.
The estate's market position within the heritage and tourism industry, as well
as its impact on the regional economy and the profile of its visitors, acts as
a powerful magnet for corporate partnerships.
