Civil wedding ceremonies can take place in the Great Chamber at Fountains Hall. The estate grounds offer a range of venues for drinks receptions and photographs.

 

Grade I listed Fountains Hall was built on the cusp of the 16th and 17th centuries. The Great Chamber features an immense 400 year old carved stone fireplace and a remarkable, ornate ceiling. Light floods into the room through the south-facing window which contains hand-painted Jacobean heraldic glass.

 

A drinks reception, held to entertain your guests while photographs are being taken amidst the estate’s many spectacular locations, can be hosted at Fountains Hall, either on the lawns or in the Stone Hall; in the Elizabethan Gardens; or in the Abbey cellarium.

 

The Great Chamber is available for ceremonies from 11am to 5pm throughout the year except Fridays in November, December and January, and on 24 and 25 December. Please note that all ceremonies must be completed by 6pm.

 

All revenue received from weddings and private functions goes directly back into helping conserve and protect this unique World Heritage Site for future generations. Fountains Abbey have a strong environmental policy and strive to minimise waste and recycle wherever possible.

 

 

 

Wedding parties of 60 guests or less can take advantage of the historic surroundings of the Great Chamber of Fountains Hall as a venue for a wedding breakfast. Catered for by our catering partners, guests can enjoy fine food and wine while helping the happy couple celebrate their marriage. The Great Chamber is available until 9.30pm, so can be used for a late afternoon formal wedding breakfast, finishing in the evening, or before continuing the celebrations in Fountains Restaurant (available from 7pm) in a more informal way!

 

For those desiring to hold a dinner and dancing reception in a truly exclusive location during the summer months we offer the hire of our Abbey View marquee site situated just yards from the romantic and beautiful ruins of Fountains Abbey. This is available from May – September and is catered for by our catering partner who will fully equip and furnish the marquee to your exact requirements.

 

 

Wedding receptions in Fountains Restaurant

The in house catering team at Fountains Abbey cater for wedding breakfasts and evening receptions in Fountains Restaurant, and use local, seasonal produce which is organic where possible. This unique venue is available exclusively to you after 7.00pm, until 12.30am, so is a perfect venue for you to continue your celebrations into the night following an intimate wedding breakfast in Fountains Hall, or for evening wedding breakfasts followed by an evening reception.
